The Rail4V4+V Railway Heritage Travelling Exhibition will be touring Hungary starting on November 8, 2024. This exhibition, part of the Rail4V4+V project supported by the Visegrad Fund, highlights the railway heritage of the V4 countries and Vojvodina. It features ten significant railway sites or facilities from each country, selected for their historical importance, their role in the life of a region, or their technical uniqueness.
The showcased sites include railway heritage locations that are in excellent condition and actively in use, as well as those that are derelict and in need of restoration. The purpose of the exhibition is to raise awareness of railways as a key component of sustainable transport development. It also highlights abandoned industrial and railway sites, emphasizing that their preservation and revitalization can reduce ecological footprints and improve the diversity of our built environment.
The exhibition was launched in September 2024 in Vojvodina and will be presented in 15 locations across five countries—Serbia and the V4 countries—over a period of one week at each venue. Following stops in Serbia at Novi Sad, Kikinda, and Aleksandrovo, the exhibition will be displayed in Hungary for the first time on November 8, and will then move to Slovakia.
The three Hungarian exhibition venues will be open on the following dates:
– Underground Railway Museum: November 8 to 17, 2024
– Railway History Park: November 19 to 24, 2024
– Békéscsaba Railway Station: November 26 to December 4, 2024
