Cartographic data:

Melenci witnessed the passing of its first train on July 8, 1883, when the Velika Kikinda – Beodra – Veliki Bečkerek railway opened.

The reception buildings along the Velika Kikinda – Veliki Bečkerek line were single-story rectangular structures, with the longer side facing the railway tracks. Each building was nearly identical, differing only in the arrangement of windows and doors on the facades. These buildings had distinct features, such as a circular window on the side facades, simulated stone reinforcement on the corners, and decorative segmental arches above the openings.

The station in Melenci once had elaborate plaster decorations on its facade, which was simplified over time. Some parts of the building, like the attic cornice, still exhibit the original colours and decorations. Currently, the building is painted in a yellow ochre colour, with the original details featuring a combination of yellow (the principal colour of the facade), red (highlighting the brick details), and green (on the rafters).

There is a fence between the tracks and the building. It was primarily made of wrought iron but has since been modernized. The reception building is rectangular, with the longer side facing the rails and nine openings (windows and doors) with segmental arches made of plaster above them. On the shorter side, there are four openings and an oculus made of plaster (not an actual opening). The building has a double-pitched roof and contains official rooms, a waiting room, and a small warehouse for goods. There is a smaller warehouse along the tracks adjacent to the reception building. Another large, abandoned warehouse with a wooden structure and brick walls is a few hundred meters away.

The reception building of the train station in Melenci is in relatively bad condition. A reconstruction planned for 2024 will include facades, roofs, carpentry, and locksmithing renovation, installation of restrooms, and other internal and external works. The complex holds significant value due to the preserved movable and immovable train control equipment, which is still operational today.

Currently, most cargo trains pass through the station, while passenger traffic has been reduced to a few departures for Subotica and Kikinda.
