Online seminar Industrial heritage and tourism, the third knowledge-sharing event of the Railway Heritage for Sustainable Tourism Development – Rail4V4+V project, held on April 7, 2022. Our Hungarian partner, IndustrialHeritageHungary.com, was the event organiser. Anica Draganić, head of the Rail4V4+V project, welcomed participants, speakers and guests. The event was moderated by Károly Teleki, who gave the opening presentation about industrial heritage tourism potential. He introduced the types of tourism, industrial and railway heritage elements and possible areas for tourism development. Zoltán Erő presented challenges and plans for the Kőbányai út brownfield location, one of Hungary’s major cultural development projects. György Jávorszky explained the functions of the Eiffel Art Studio and how it has changed the way the Hungarian State Opera works. Gábor Zsigmond presented the portfolio of technical museums in Hungary, the concept of the new Transport Museum and international best practice examples of the functions and operation of transport museums. Stefan Berger linked the typology of industrial regimes with specific memories (antagonistic, cosmopolitan and agonistic). István Bartók described the construction of large socialist buildings (e.g. power plants, factory halls), which are still in use today. Emese Meiszter presented possibilities for reusing buildings through current challenges and specificities, with examples of three stations along the Esztergom railway line.
